Are you looking to broaden candidates knowledge about Personal Track Safety? Real Skills Training are the specialists when it comes to PTS training, offering high-quality training and utilising appropriate training materials.
Our training is provided to demonstrate what will be required of candidates should they choose to pursue a career in the railway industry; ensuring that they are fully prepared to work in one of the most dangerous environments.
Who is the course for?
Here at Real Skills, we try not to stipulate who can apply for PTS training, however, there are certain requisites that we look for.
Our railway training suits the requirements of candidates who are interested in working on the railway or near the railway infrastructure, but individuals must be over the age of 16 if they intend on applying for PTS training.
Working for the railway industry is thought to be one of the most rewarding careers to pursue. To apply for a place on our training course, you need to make sure that you have sponsorship from approved railway companies along with a valid signature from a Sentinel coordinator.
The PTS course is suitable for candidates who are medically fit to work; and with this, you need to pass medical, drug and alcohol tests before we can offer a place on our course.
An additional requirement of the PTS training is that individuals must be able to speak the English language in case they need to make emergency calls!
What are the course objectives?
The main aim of railway training is to educate all candidates, ensuring that they develop a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as adopting a safe system to work. Although there are various learning outcomes, we ensure that our training is interesting and engaging, allowing individuals to learn hands-on.
Candidates can expect to be given instructions that will be imperative for when they are near the railway infrastructure. As well as this, another objective of the PTS course is to provide candidates with the ability to interpret the PTS handbook and to develop an understanding of how to work safely, without compromising their own safety or the safety of others.
PTS Training incorporates theoretical and practical opportunities for candidates to broaden their skills. The sessions that are carried out in the classroom are provided by our team of in-house training professionals and we identify what topics will be covered in the Personal Track Safety course.
Within these sessions, we will discuss what’s to be expected from the course, as well as what a career in the railway industry entails. You’re sure to take an abundance of information away from the classroom session- so we suggest preparing yourself!
At Real Skills, we offer E-Learning to test the knowledge of candidates who are keen to start work on the railway line. The online assessment is specifically designed to be challenging and can take up to 3.5 hours to complete.
The E-Learning concludes with a short online exam that requires a pass rate if you’re to go on to undertake railway training!
Sponsors are responsible for registering candidates for the PTS course, however, this assessment can be taken in the comfort of your own home or within the classroom session- it merely depends on what suits your needs best.
How does certification work?
The PTS qualification is added to your PTS card (also known as your Sentinel Card) within 48 hours of completing the course. The addition of Personal Track Safety to your PTS card will allow you to apply for jobs in the railway industry as you have demonstrated your ability to work in accordance with safety guidelines.
Your PTS card is your permit to work- in essence- and without it, you cannot work on the railway as it’s not safe for you to do so. Any competencies that you hold will be recorded within the Sentinel System and added to your PTS card, providing your employer with the peace of mind that you are safe to work.
