The training has given me confidence that I will undertake my work to the highest standards.
Staring a career in the rail industry is the dream of many people and – here at Real Skills Training – we aim to make that dream a reality!
Thanks to railway training in Manchester, there are now more opportunities for people who are keen to pursue a career in the rail industry to achieve the required qualifications, than ever before. But specialist training is not only ideal for employees who want to work on the railway. It can also benefit you, the employer.
As an employer, you want your employees to have an abundance of expertise when it comes to working on (or near) the railway line, ensuring that there is no sacrifice made to their safety or the safety of others. Attending specialist training courses will build and develop their understanding and, in some cases, refresh their knowledge.
Training opportunities in Manchester
Here at Real Skills, we specialise in Personal Track Safety, PTS Recertification and Track Induction Courses and accommodate all recruitment agencies and contractors. We also offer an extensive range of railway courses in Manchester, including pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships and traineeships.
Arguably, the best thing about our courses is that they provide candidates with hands-on experience – allowing for a highly skilled workforce.
Personal Track Safety training
Personal Track Safety, or PTS, is an entry-level training course which covers the safety measures and procedures, required of anyone working trackside (i.e. on the banks, at the station or on the platform).
Candidates will need to undergo theoretical and practical assessments. From what they learn in the classroom, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to follow the safe system of work by working trackside.
Here at Real Skills, we specialise in PTS courses Manchester and offer one of two options:
- In-house training
- On-site training
We regularly run railway courses at our training academy in Liverpool to develop the understanding of candidates. However, we understand that in-house training is not always the most convenient solution (especially if you have a large group of employees who require training), hence why we offer on-site PTS training in Manchester.
PTS can be delivered at your premises by our approved trainers, so there’s no excuse why your employees cannot attend training courses! We offer PTS Manchester to determine the responsibility of those wanting to work trackside and making sure that they know how to work safely.
Pre-requisite of PTS Manchester
To apply for PTS courses in Manchester, candidates need:
- a medical, drugs and alcohol test
- sponsorship
- to complete the e-learning module
All candidates must be medically fit to work and will need to pass a fitness test before they can be offered a place on the course. They also need to have a negative drug and alcohol test as this could impact on their ability to work and, in turn, put others at risk.
As well as this, a sponsor is required if individuals are to go on to work trackside. Sponsorship is provided by railway companies, current employers or future employers, and they usually cover the cost of the training. They can also set up a Sentinel profile for candidates to complete the e-learning module, before attending PTS Manchester.
